University of Phoenix allowed Tony to pursue a degree while maintaining his dedication to helping abused children entering into recovery. With his University of Phoenix degree in hand, he is now a well-respected professor at three local colleges, training teachers how to work effectively with vulnerable populations of children and make a difference in their lives. Kenneth Cunningham, 26, is an articulate and resilient individual who has always wanted to pursue a higher education degree. The consequences of an abusive family and lack of support in his youth forced Ken to make his home in the streets of Seattle. Yet in adversity, Ken never lost sight of the value of a higher education degree and the positive possibilities it would bring, especially in building a better quality of life. He is thrilled that all of the obstacles to pursuing his degree have been removed and he can now take control of his future through the Paying it ForwardSM Scholarship Program.
