Sabrina Walker Handy chose to attend University of Phoenix because it was the only way she was going to be able to get ahead while still maintaining her full-time job and parenting duties. Although she found the rigorous curriculum challenging, Sabrina was able to apply the practical lessons she learned in the classroom to her current job. She wanted to pass along the opportunity to one of her good friends, who needed extra financial assistance to be able to attend University of Phoenix.

Tasha Bradley Gilbert

For the past decade, Tasha Bradley Gilbert's goal has been to obtain a college degree. Tasha works as an adjustment analyst at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida and wanted to set an example for her two children by showing them the importance of higher education. Having to work full-time to support her family, she had only been able to complete one class at a time at a local community college. Needless to say, she wasn’t getting anywhere. Now with the scholarship, she will be starting online classes to work towards a Bachelor of Science in Business/Management degree. With her college degree, Tasha hopes to be able to provide a better life for her family.
