Donna Thomas

Donna Thomas always wanted to be a teacher growing up, so when she started working in a Mississippi elementary school – it was a dream come true. But after teaching in the classroom for six years, she was frustrated and wanted to learn how to be a better instructor. Donna recognized that education would help her achieve this, but between her full-time job and taking care of her son, going to a traditional school just was not an option for her. After relocating to Houston and taking a teaching position at Davila Elementary School as a computer literacy teacher for pre-kindergarten to fifth grade students, Donna enrolled in University of Phoenix’s master's degree program in business administration and supervision. The online program provided Donna with the flexibility and accessibility she needed to take care of her family as well as understand the business aspect of schools. Donna graduated with her master’s degree in November 2005. Donna is thrilled to pass along the excellent education and experience to her co-worker through the Paying it ForwardSM Scholarship Program.

Aneshia Nasha Viser

Aneshia Viser got married and started a family at a young age. Currently, the 28-year-old Houston resident is a single mother working full-time to provide a better life for her young daughters. In fact, she has instilled two things in her children – education is the key to opportunities and never give up on your dreams. Because she stresses the importance of education, Aneshia recognizes that she should lead by example; however, it was never possible due to her financial situation. As a recipient of the Paying it ForwardSM Scholarship Program, Aneshia is ecstatic to become a better role model for her children as well as make her dreams of earning a bachelor’s degree come true.
