Rachelle Farnsworth
Boise, Idaho
Working in control drafting at a substation engineering and design department, Rachelle was essentially performing the same duties as her colleagues, yet was constrained to lesser title and pay because she lacked a college-level degree. In order to transition into a higher paying respected career, Rachelle enrolled at University of Phoenix and earned her bachelor’s degree in business management in 2007. As she makes her way towards completing her master’s degree in business administration, Rachelle works as an energy management system analyst. She applies much of the information and knowledge she gathered from the MBA program to a start-up Engineering LLC. Her education continues to provide her with both the business and people skills she needs to advance in her career.

Kristian Hohenbrink
San Jose, California
As a commission-based sales professional, Kristian’s success and paycheck rely heavily on the health of the economy rather than his dedication and knowledge. This highly stressful and unstable career made providing for three children a struggle for this working father. Kristian has been longing to return to college to gain a competitive edge and the enhanced knowledge to compete for a secure and reliable job but lacks the financial funds to pursue a higher education. In an effort to better himself and his family’s future, Kristian plans to earn a bachelor’s degree in business in hopes of making the career transition from salesman to an executive management role. This degree will improve his career opportunities and provide financial stability for his family.
